What is diffe rent about this example from previous examples? Much of the building examples previously mentioned, the inclusion of Art Noveau is subtle. It is mostly present in the details of this piece. Why is this example important to you? The golden details are what makes this piece more obviously Art Noveau. The other architectural elements could make this work mistaken for Roman architecure, though there could be elements of that architecture as well. The organic forms The handmade like qualities The female form What is diffe rent about this examp le from previous examples? This building is similar to the Chaise Lounge furniture piece in the way that this piece could be mistaken for the Victorian style of design. While this work could have been influened by both styles, what makes this piece art noveau is the inclusion of the female form as a head adorning the building. Why is this example important to you? This is more than just an Art Noveau building, it is an Art Noveau castle. It takes some of the architectual element present in  castles and makes it Art Noveau. The organic and free flowing forms The hand made qualities The floral elements What is diffe rent about this example from previous examples? This building is both Art Noveau from an architecutal standpoint, but also from a design standpoint. The images on the building are also Art Noveau. Why is this example important to you? While most of the architecture has been sublte about its Art Noveau stylistic elements, this work goes full out Art Noveau in every way possible. The designer must have been committed to this style. Guimard, Hector, A Buffet , furniture How and why is it relevant to your theme/style? The organic forms The handmade quality What is diffe rent about this example from previous examples? This work is not painted with designs of Art Noveau. The wood design is Art Noveau in of itself. Why is this example important to you? This work delacately instuments the stylistic choices of Art Nouveau without overdoing itself. This work would not neccessarily need to be next to other Art Noveau furniture for it to blend in. Hand made quality and organic forms The date of creation is within the dates of Art Nouveau prevelance. What is diffe rent about this example from previous examples? Of the functional items, this piece, while relavent to the style, could also be heavily mistaken for other styles such as Victorican. It looks as though it could blend in with an older relavives home decor.  Why is this example important to you? This work is Art Nouveau, but is also influcenced by the furniture relavent to Victorian styles thus this work appears more aged than previous works. Bugatti, Carlo, Desk , 1895, (Metropolitan Museum of Art).   How and why is it relevant to your theme/style? The date of creation is within the era of Art Noveau. There is a handcrafted quality to this piece of furnature. What is diffe rent about this example from previous examples? Unlike all of the previous funtional pieces, without the title, this would not be identifiable as a desk.  Why is this example important to you? When a stylized piece of furnature does not look like that particular piece of furnature, this shows a whole new level of creative expression. The artist was not attempting to confrom to what a desk was, they were making art into a desk. Majorelle, Louis,  The "Water Lily" bed , 1902-1903, (Musée d'Orsay).   How and why is it relevant to your theme/style? This bed was created within the era of Art Noveau This bed has the motif of nature and the handcrafted quality in the craftmanship. What is diffe rent about this example from previous examples? All previous functional objects were used, but you would not sit on any of them let alone sleep on them. Why is this example important to you? Everything in this piece has handcrafted qualities. Even the bedding is not typical, rather it is also stylized in natural forms to match the bedframe with water lilies incorperated into its design.
