How and why is it relevant to your theme/style?

  • Hand made quality and organic forms
  • The date of creation is within the dates of Art Nouveau prevelance.

What is different about this example from previous examples?
  • Of the functional items, this piece, while relavent to the style, could also be heavily mistaken for other styles such as Victorican. It looks as though it could blend in with an older relavives home decor. 

Why is this example important to you?
  • This work is Art Nouveau, but is also influcenced by the furniture relavent to Victorian styles thus this work appears more aged than previous works. It has the historical elements of much older styles, but they are seamlessly merged.

This building is similar to the Chaise Lounge furniture piece in the way that this piece could be mistaken for the Victorian style of design. While this work could have been influened by both styles, what makes this piece art noveau is the inclusion of the female form as a head adorning the building. Why is this example important to you? This is more than just an Art Noveau building, it is an Art Noveau castle. It takes some of the architectual element present in  castles and makes it Art Noveau. The Water Lily Bed

This bed was created within the era of Art Noveau This bed has the motif of nature and the handcrafted quality in the craftmanship. What is diffe rent about this example from previous examples? All previous functional objects were used, but you would not sit on any of them let alone sleep on them. Why is this example important to you? Everything in this piece has handcrafted qualities. Even the bedding is not typical, rather it is also stylized in natural forms to match the bedframe with water lilies incorperated into its design.
